Event Overview

The Medbury School Trust Board is delighted to announce the return of its annual Tuition Fees Raffle — this year with a twist: you can Win Back Your School Fees! This exciting fundraising initiative gives you the chance to have your Medbury tuition fees for 2025 fully refunded or credited, while supporting the continued advancement of education through the Medbury School Trust Board. 

Tickets are $50 each, with only 2,000 tickets available, giving every participant a 1 in 2,000 chance of winning. The lucky winner will receive a prize equal to the full annual tuition fees for one student at Medbury School.All proceeds, beyond the prize cost, directly benefit the School Trust Board’s ongoing commitment to educational excellence and development at Medbury.

This raffle is conducted under licence issued under Section 37 of the Gambling Act 2003.

Terms and Conditions

1. Promoter

The promoter of this raffle is the Medbury School Trust Board, 109 Clyde Road, Ilam, Christchurch 8041.

2. Purpose

All proceeds from ticket sales, less the prize cost, will be applied to the advancement of education and development through the Medbury School Trust Board.

3. Ticket Details

A total of 2,000 tickets will be issued, numbered 0001–2000, each at a cost of $50.00.

There is no limit to the number of tickets an individual may purchase, subject to availability.

Tickets will be available for purchase by:

  • Parents of current Medbury students
  • Prospective parents with confirmed 2025 enrolments
  • Relatives of current students
  • Members of the broader Medbury community, including staff, former staff, past parents, alumni, Board members, and friends of the school

No person is permitted to participate in the raffle until the full ticket price has been paid.

4. Prize

The prize is equal to 100% of one Year 8 domestic student’s annual tuition fees at Medbury School for the 2025 school year.

The prize will apply to the 2025 school year as follows:

  • If the winning family has a student returning to Medbury in 2026, the prize will be applied as a credit to their 2026 tuition account.
  • If the winning family’s student is not returning in 2026 (for example, a Year 8 leaver), the prize will be issued as a refund of the equivalent tuition amount, payable by February 2026.

The prize is limited to the value of annual tuition fees and cannot be transferred to another school or redeemed for any other purpose.

The winner may choose to:

  • Apply the credit or receive the refund for their own tuition fees,
  • Donate the prize back to the Medbury School Trust Board, or
  • Gift the prize to another Medbury family, subject to approval by the Trust Board.

5. Eligibility and Conditions

  • Ticket purchasers must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Staff and Board members may purchase tickets but are subject to the same eligibility conditions as all entrants.
  • The draw will be conducted in accordance with the Department of Internal Affairs Class 3 Gambling Licence requirements.

6. Draw Details

The raffle will be drawn live at a Medbury School Assembly on Monday 8 December 2025, at 109 Clyde Road, Christchurch.

Ticket butts will be drawn from a barrel under supervision.

The winner will be notified in writing and may be announced on the Medbury School website, social media channels, and school publications.

7. Cancellation

If the raffle is cancelled, notice will appear in The Press, and all money will be refunded.

8. Publicity

Medbury School reserves the right to use the prize winner’s details for promotional purposes. By purchasing a raffle ticket, participants agree to participate in reasonable media activities regarding the raffle draw and consent to the use of photographs or videos of the winner for Medbury School’s marketing and promotional efforts (both in print and online).

9. Disputes and Contact

Any disputes or questions regarding the raffle will be resolved at the sole discretion of the Medbury School Trust Board.
